A 1795 reeded edge large cent is set to cross the block on January 7.
It's among the highlights of Heritage Auctions' Platinum Night Auction at the Florida United Numismatists' (FUN) convention.

The lot is the fifth finest of the 10 known specimens. This sale marks its first appearance at auction in more than 50 years (it was last sold in 1964).
Greg Rohan, president of Heritage Auctions, explains: "The coin has been known to the large cent community since 1964, but has never been seen until now.
"It's a thrill to handle this coin. Heritage is the only firm that has handled four different Reeded Edge large cents out of the 10 known. No other house has seen more than two of them."
