German auction house Teutoburger's upcoming two-day numismatic sale, Auktion 51, is scheduled to start this Friday (September 10-11).
Among the coins, medals and jewellery on offer is this historic coin from the reign of Adolf I, Prince of Schaumburg-Lippe from 1860-1893.
Noteworthy events during the bearded ruler's rein over the Principality of Schaumburg-Lippe included signing a military treaty with Prussia, followed by military union in 1867.

This uncirculated 20 Mark coin was issued some years later, in 1874. Teutoburger describes the coin as being in "almost brilliant condition... an "uncirculated beauty."
It will sell in Auktion 51 with an authenticity certificate, and a carries a pre-sale estimate of €9,000. Online bidding is available for collectors around the world to take part.
