We've already looked that coin previously owned by The Grand Duke Georgii Mikhailovich, cousin of Emperor Alexander III, which is appearing in Baldwin & Sons' January 6 New York Sale XXVI.
Baldwin's describes its Russian sale as "the best collection of coins and medals we have ever had."
And auctioning alongside it is one of the rarest pieces of the legendary Petrine Ducat coin series, a gold Peter I (1689-1725) Ducat AYG dated to 1703.

Authenticated and graded "XF 40" - Extremely Fine 40, one point above 'uncirculated' - by the NGC, this coin is rightly billed as being of "the Greatest rarity", and is also among the best preserved specimens.
Although there is some "minor waviness" on its surface, this coin is nevertheless a "good extremely fine" specimen and will go under the hammer in New York with an $75,000 estimate.
According to Baldwin, bidders can bid online - without incurring extra charges - via its website. Watch this space for further news on The New York Sale XXVI.
