A rare British £1m Treasury note is to auction at Dix Noonan Webb in London on April 24 with a £5,000-10,000 ($8,383-16,766) estimate.
|
The lot dates to 2003 and bears the signature of Secretary to the Treasury Andrew Turnbull.
It is one of only three such notes to have ever been offered at auction, with one example from 1948 achieving £78,300 ($131,277) at Spink London in 2008.
Such high value British notes are used to transfer money between banks, yet this one was given to a retiring printer as a keepsake from his years of service.
