A sheet of 60 British 2016 polymer £5 notes has sold for £8,500 ($10,838) in a charity sale of low numbered British banknotes at Spink London
That's more than double its £4,000 ($5,100) estimate prior to the October 3 auction.

All bear prefixes from AM01-AM60 and feature the serial number 428000.
The issue was released on September 13 and replaces the paper £5. It has a range of new security features and is designed to be much more durable than its predecessor.
Notes bearing the AA01 prefix are particularly sought after, with a very low numbered specimen (AA01 000017) achieving £4,150 ($5,291) - an auction record for the new note.
