The coin is valued at $9,500-13,000, as the expected top lot of the sale.
The bilingual coin dates to 1798, the second full year of the Jiaqing emperor's reign (1796-1820). An extremely rare find, it has been graded XF 45 and is to be sold in a PCGS holder.
Nicholas Rhodes (1946-2011) was a British numismatist who specialised in Asian coinage, and was also a founding member of the Oriental Numismatic Society. His collection, which will be sold in parts by Spink, contains some of the rarest coins from Tibet, Assam and Nepal.
Paul Fraser Collectibles has a magnificent selection of rare coins for sale.
