A 50 rupee Seychelles banknote with the word "sex" secretly printed on it is to auction at Duke's in Dorchester on October 15.
![]() Look at the palm trees - the lot is one of two examples of a Seychelles banknote to display a hidden message |
The lot was issued between 1968 and 1973, when the nation was trying to gain independence from Britain.
The message is thought to have been added by an employee at the printers, possibly as a protest against British rule. Another banknote in the series, the 10 rupee, appears to display the word "scum".
The note is expected to sell for around £200 ($313).
