The world record for a Silver American Eagle coin has risen by 3.9% in just five months.
It follows the $90,000 sale of a PCGS Proof-70 Deep Cameo 1995-W American Silver Eagle in August, according to Numismatic News.

The previous world record for a Silver American Eagle was set at the $86,654.70 auction of another PCGS Proof 70 Deep Cameo 1995-W in March.
"To set a new record price so soon after the previous record shows the current strength of the market for high-end collectors and the desirability of this coin," Stephen Pfeil, the vice president of Westminster Mint, told the publication following the sale.
The US Mint has been producing Silver American Eagles since 1986, yet the 1995 issue is by far the most sought after. That is due to its low mintage numbers and the fact that many were issued with imperfections, meaning just 17 coins have the coveted PCGS top grading of "Proof-70 Deep Cameo".
