An 1804 silver dollar with a valuation of $8m-10m is to headline the sale of the world's most valuable single owner collection of US coins.
The D Brent Pogue collection will be sold by Stack's Bowers (in association with Sotheby's) in a series of auctions beginning in May.

Known as "The King of Coins", the 1804 silver dollar is the holy grail of US issues. Only 15 are thought to exist, with this specimen the finest known. It's expected to surpass the record $10m paid for a silver dollar in 2013.
Brian Kendrella, president at Stack's Bowers Galleries, commented: "The D. Brent Pogue Collection is a once-in-a-lifetime offering, featuring some of the most historic and notable coins known to exist.
"The American economy was founded on these coins, with each piece an artifact from the first chapter of American history.
"By partnering with Sotheby's, we hope to give collectors all over the world the opportunity to own these national treasures."
D Brent Pogue commented: "The sale of my collection is bittersweet, but I feel now is the time to pass the torch to a new generation of custodians, who can appreciate the legacy of these great American coins.
"These coins conjure up many fond memories, and I hope the new owners will enjoy them as much as I have."
