The event in question is in association with another group with a distinct interest in firearms: the NRA (National Rifle Assocation).
"NRA Firearms For Freedom Auction," begins August 21, 2011, in Dallas, TX. The special event, featuring donations from NRA members, benefits the NRA, its mission in defence of America's Second Amendment rights.
Greg Martin is a long-time supporter of the NRA.
The diverse offerings at the sales include a wide selection of antique and modern firearms, including target and sporting guns, rifles, shotguns and handguns.
Noteworthy antique arms going up for bid in Part I include a Colt cased 1851 Navy revolver and a Colt model 1848 Baby Dragoon revolver. Among the modern lots are the serial Number 1 Sig Sauer 522 Tactical Rifle .22LR three full-size Remington Bronze reproductions, and vintage edged weapons.
The Colt Model 1848 Type II Baby Dragoon Percussion Revolver in Associated Case with Powder Flask bears the rare serial no. 9353. It boasts a .31 calibre, 5-inch octagonal barrel with two-line New York address.
Fine for this model, the barrel, cylinder and frame show grey metal with strong traces of blue finish, mostly in protected areas. The case and powder flask are very good, and as a whole it is expected to bring $5,000-8,000.
