Heritage Auctions’ Arms and Armor sale will feature an unusual French harmonica pinfire pistol.
The gun was invented in the early 1800s.
The harmonica pistol allowed for more firepower and terrible accuracy
It’s loaded from the side using a slide that moves as the ammunition is spent. This allowed for a rapid rate of fire, but as the balance was continually changing it meant accuracy went out the window.
This one is by J Jarre of Paris and dates to around the 1850s.
It’s offered with an opening bid of $1,625 ahead of the June 11 sale.
A set of D-Day maps will also feature in the auction.
