A set of posthumous medals awarded to British secret agent Violette Szabo has sold for £260,000 ($406,315) at Dix Noonan Webb.
The sale took place this morning.

Szabo joined the British Special Operations Executive (SOE) in 1944 following the death of her husband at the hands of the Nazis.
She served as a secret agent in occupied France, but was captured, tortured and executed in 1945.
The medal group consists of a George Cross, one of very few ever awarded to a woman, alongside various general service medals.
The buyer was famed Victoria Cross collector Lord Ashcroft.
David Erskine-Hill of Dix Noonan Webb explained to the MailOnline: "Her award stands at the pinnacle of such distinctions and her legacy yet higher.
"As a consequence, her story has reached an admiring international audience, for it is a story of a brave and beautiful woman, in fact a very special human being, who in reality conquered her foes by an example of stoicism that remains an inspiration to this day."
