1980s pinball machines, arcade games set for live auction

A mammoth collection of 1980s coin operated arcade games and pinball machines is expected to stir feelings of nostalgia among collectors on May 4 in California.

In one of the largest auctions of its kind ever seen, Captain's Auction Warehouse offers the remarkable amassment following a successful sale in March.

Owner Chris Campbell attributes the rise in interest to those who spent their weekends pumping quarters into arcade games finally coming of age and having a disposable income.

Included in the sale are Star Wars, Mario Bros and Pac-Man themed machines, sure to set collector passions alight.

Auction Team Breker will auction one of the few surviving examples of the Apple-1 computer on May 25, the first machine ever produced by Steve Jobs' iconic company.
