The doll, a fine example incised "Bru Jne" on one side and "No. 7" on the other, sold for $15,000. It is valued for its beautifully modelled features, as well as its elegant dress.
French-made Bru Jne & Cie dolls are some of the most coveted in the hobby. Produced between 1866-1899, they are typically in the classic style and made of bisque.
The company also made fashion dolls, but was absorbed into the Societe Francaise de Fabrication de Bebe and Jouets after German bisque dolls began to dominate the market.
