In the second sale of top collector Shawn Chaulk's collection dedicated to "The Great One", Wayne Gretzky's Edmonton Oilers record jersey has sold with Classic Auctions.

The jersey, worn as Gretzky scored his 77th goal to break Phil Esposito's single-season record, sold for an impressive $168,209.
However, the price is far below the $297,995 realised for Gretzky's 500th goal jersey in the auction house's initial offering of the Chaulk collection in 2013.
With Gretzky scoring in almost every game, it was a sure thing that The Great One would be Esposito's scoring record of 76 as he stepped out on to the ice in February 24, 1982, and he didn't disappoint, keeping the crowd in suspense until the final seven minutes of the game when he raised three goals.
He later went on to grab 92 by the end of the season, an unbeaten record. Among these was his landmark 200th point.
Also selling was Gretzky's 212th point of the season game-used stick, which sold for $10,454, as well as the game-used gloved from his 200th point of the 1981-1982 season, which made $26,228.
Paul Fraser Collectibles has a great range of sports memorabilia for sale.
