The Hotel Ritz Paris has been a byword for luxury since its opening in 1898.
On April 17-21 it will auction off a large portion of its historic furniture including, notably, the first bathtub ever installed in the hulking building.
The enamel bath remains in surprisingly good condition
That tub, with its original late 19th century shower fitting, is valued at $1,500.
The Paris Ritz was the first hotel with a bathtub in every room, an unimaginable luxury at the time.
There’s also some Ritz monogrammed bath sets, valued at $650.
Other auctions hosted by top-end institutions have been very well received, including a sell-off of pieces from the Four Seasons in 2016.
