Some of London's most iconic street signs have been sold by local authorities, with the sign for Downing Street - home of the British Prime Minister - topping the auction.

The Downing Street sign crossed the block on May 21 in Sussex, UK, selling for ?�7,800 ($11,855) and making a 420% increase on estimate.
Following was the example for Abbey Road, home of the famous Beatles-used studio, which sold for ?�4,350 ($6,553) to London property investor John Antoniou. Antoniou plans to give the sign to his son, a musician and producer.
Also selling was a cast iron post complete with a City of Westminster plaque, with signs pointing to famous landmarks such as Buckingham Palace. It sold for ?�2,800 ($4,255) - a 250% increase on estimate.
