An important collection of 10 items relating to George Custer will cross the block at Early American History Auctions.

All are from the collection of a private McKinley, who served under Custer in the confederate Third Cavalry Division during the civil war.
They include a carte de visite photograph of Custer presented to McKinley in the aftermath of the war and a handwritten copy of his famous farewell address.
The fascinating lot also includes items that offer an insight into the war from McKinley's own perspective, such as a diary and a handwritten timeline.
It's expected to make around $16,000-20,000 in the July 9 sale.
