John Jr and Caroline Kennedy's childhood sailing boat is among the headline lots of RR Auction's Remarkable Rarities sale, which closes on February 19.
Christened "The Scallop", the boat was built by Beetle Cat boats in Massachusetts and used while Jacqueline and her children were living in Greece from the late 1960s onwards.

The lot is accompanied by a 2006 letter from Caroline Kennedy to consignor Peter Eastman. It reads: "Thank you for writing in regard to our family's Beetle Cat.
"Your letter brought back so many memories. I always wondered what happened to the only Beetle Cat in the Mediterranean.
"In answer to your questions, it was painted more like a Greek fishing boat than a typical Beetle Cat with a bright yellow hull, and a sky blue deck. It was called the Scallop. I would love to know what happens to it."
The lot has been restored to its original state and offers an unusual and fascinating piece of Kennedy memorabilia. It was commissioned by Jacqueline Onassis in 1969 and shipped back to the US in 1975, following the death of her second husband Aristotle Onassis.
