A remarkable collection of presidential memorabilia is set to sell in a dedicated auction on October 12 in Atlanta, just one month ahead of the US elections.

"Even if it wasn't a presidential election year, this collection would still attract enormous attention, it's quite literally a historical timeline of 20th century White House history," commented the auction house's Marie Kowalik.
The collection has been consigned by the grandson of Bonner Arrington, a carpenter employed at the White House for 33 years. Mr Arrington's wife, Alphadine, also worked there for more than a decade.
John F Kennedy memorabilia is expected to provide one of the biggest draws of the offerings, which span several presidencies. The collection features official White House photographs of the president and Mrs Kennedy, which have been inscribed and signed by both, as well as the official packet issued by the Ford Motor Company for the Presidential Continental - the limousine Kennedy was in on the day of his assassination.
Some of the most interesting lots come from the furniture offered in the sale. Once on the verge of being thrown away, a rocking chair from the Roosevelt administration is now one of the auction's most fascinating items. The remarkable piece seems to have been made especially for the president, with the underside bearing a plaque that reads: "Executive Mansion, Theodore Roosevelt".
Also featuring is a hand-crafted and hand-carved solid mahogany replica of the Resolute Desk that sits in the Oval Office, which has been made to the exact specifications of the original.
PFC Auctions is currently selling a magnificent Carlton House desk in its latest sale, as well as John F Kennedy's personal humidor and cigars and a cowboy hat signed by Ronald Reagan. However, bidders should hurry as the sale ends in just a few hours.
