A coronation story.

This second card dates from 1954.

It features a striking colour portrait of the Queen Mother and her daughter Princess Margaret.

And the date of the photograph is highly significant.

June 2, 1953: the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II.

The pair are pictured wearing their coronation robes, and surrounded by the Royal footmen who would help carry them during the ceremony.

Once again, the pomp and splendour is captured in all its glory.

But the single signature on this card also reveals a poignant story.

It was signed by the Queen Mother two years after the death of George VI.

And she noticeably signs on the right, leaving a blank space where the King would also have signed.

It's a small detail, but it perhaps captures the sense of loss she felt for her beloved husband.

The card measures 16 inches by 6.5 inches when opened.

It features some toning on the outer cover, but the interior remains in very good condition and ideal for display.

Once again, the quality of the Queen Mother's signature is second-to-none.

Dated 1954 and crisply signed “Elizabeth R” in black ink.
