A set of claws used by Hugh Jackman in his role as Wolverine in X-Men II (2003) will lead a sale at Premiere Props in Segundo, California on March 22.

They are estimated to auction for between $13,500-25,000.

The claws were created by James Gawley, aka "Jimmy Claws"

The claws were created by special effects guru James Gawley at his studio in Canada in 2002 and were worn onscreen by Jackman.

They were used in fight sequences, with CGI employed to give the impression they were extending through the knuckles.

Recent examples of films featuring the character, including The Wolverine (2013), have used entirely CGI claws - capping the market for such props.

A mask from the original Planet of the Apes (1968) is estimated to make $6,000-10,000.

It was placed on a dummy representing a mounted gorilla soldier and features throughout the film in scenes which called for them to fall from height.

The mask is one of only a handful of extant examples, as the majority of the actors in the film wore complex prosthetics to allow them to speak.

It comes from the collection of Zoyd Luce, who created a range of props for the film.
