The long awaited Pop Culture auction from Christie's has seen a Mick Jagger-worn jumpsuit sell with excellent results.
Taking place in London as we speak (November 29), the auction hosts a range of memorabilia spanning film, music and the arts. One of the most anticipated lots of the sale is a Nirvana bass guitar that was destroyed during the Smells Like Teen Spirit music video, which will be sold as the last lot.

Jagger's jumpsuit brought an impressive £20,000 ($32,075), soaring past its £12,000 high estimate to achieve a 66.6% increase. One of the highest selling items in the auction so far, it comes on the same day as the Rolling Stones' second London show of their five date 2012 tour, which marks their 50 year anniversary.
The flamboyant sequinned outfit, designed by Ossie Clark, was worn by the Stones' frontman on their 1972 American tour, which is hailed as one of the greatest in the group's career. Occurring just a few months after the release of Exile of Main St, it was a major event in pop culture and has become part of rock and roll history.

Also selling from the Rolling Stones was a mock-up book documenting their 1975 tour. Featuring four original snapshots taken by Andy Warhol of Mick Jagger, and signed by the artist, it made £7,500 ($12,000).
On December 12, Sotheby's will offer a collection of Mick Jagger love letters sent to Marsha Hunt, which have been consigned directly by his former lover.
