A collection of original drawings and writings by John Lennon will feature in a sale at Sotheby's New York in June 4.

The collection is to be split up and sold as separate lots, with estimates ranging from $500 up to $70,000. It is formed of material produced during the publishing of Lennon's books In His Own Write and A Spaniard in the Works.
Tom Maschler, ex chairman of publishing house Jonathan Cape, is the consignor of the archive, having come in to possession of the material in the early to mid 1960s.
The top lot of the collection will be The Singularge Experience of Miss Anne Duffield, a nine-page manuscript for a Sherlock Holmes parody, valued at $40,000-60,000.

The collection will be exhibited at the SXSW Festival in Austin, Texas between 13-14 March and at Sotheby's London between March 21-25.
Items pertaining to Lennon are much in demand due to his extraordinary role in the history of pop music. In recent years item ranging from a school detention sheet, his Ferrari 330GT and even his childhood home have sold for significant sums at auction.
