Julien's Auctions' Icons & Idols sale has seen a hoard of Madonna memorabilia cross the block, led by the jacket she wore in Desperately Seeking Susan.

The sale took place on November 7 in Beverly Hills, with some of the most important Madonna items on offer.
The jacket, central to the 1985 movie's plot and featuring in the video for Get into the Groove, made an impressive $257,000, selling 413.9% above its $50,000 high estimate.
The custom tuxedo jacket is worn by both Madonna and Rosanna Arquette in the film at the centre of a case of mistaken identity. Its striking design features a pyramid on the reverse, with a red felt banner that reads "NOVUS ORDO SECLORUM".

The jacket outsold the expected highlight of the sale, which was Madonna's iconic pink dress from the Material Girl video. Imitating Marilyn Monroe's Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend, it made $59,375.
Madonna's wedding dress to actor Sean Penn sold for $81,250 - a 35.4% increase on its $60,000 high estimate. Showing Madonna's unique style, it is a reminder of the famously tumultuous relationship between the pair, which some suggest still continues.
The sale proves that Madonna is at the top of the collecting market, a trend that has been evident for some time. A global icon, Madonna's memorabilia is likely to continue to rise in price as more collectors realise her importance to pop music.
Paul Fraser Collectibles has a selection of Madonna memorabilia for sale, including the dance machine from the Hung Up music video.
