A Paul McCartney signed Martin D-28 guitar has raised $50,000 for the Nature Conservancy's African Elephant Initiative in an eBay sale that closed on August 13 with a single bid.
The guitar is inscribed "This guitar saves elephants" in reference to Woody Guthrie's iconic anti-fascist slogan.

David Banks, managing director for the Africa Program and The Nature Conservancy, commented prior to the sale: "To have Sir Paul's support and working with Martin Guitar is a real honour.
"This calibre of collaboration will make a difference to help end the worst poaching crisis in history."
The front door to McCartney's childhood home is set to make up to £8,000 ($13,456) at Christie's Out of the Ordinary sale on September 3.
