A Schecter RS 1000 guitar in a black gloss finish, previously owned by Robert Smith of the Cure, has made £27,500 ($45,042) at Bonhams London.
It made a 450% increase on a £5,000 ($8,189) estimate.
The guitar was used in the band's performances in 2008 to promote the album 4:13 Dream, and features lyrics from the song "A Boy I Never Knew" in silver pen on the front, along with Smith's signature.

It was consigned by Smith himself to benefit the charity Amaze, which supports parents of children with special needs, and featured a note of provenance from the singer which read: "The Cure played the (as yet unreleased) song 'A Boy I Never Knew' around 20 times ...and this Schecter RS-1000 is the guitar I used for every one of those performances."
An autographed copy of With the Beatles (1963), signed by all four members, achieved £18,750 ($30,710).
It was presented to the consignor, who was stage manager of the Liverpool Empire Theatre in the early 1960s, and features a dedication to "Barbara" - who was his girlfriend at the time.
There are 15-20 signed examples of With the Beatles known to exist - with one rare UK first stereo pressing, first cover edition realising $40,726 at RR Auction on September 26 of this year.
We have a signed copy of the much rarer A Hard Day's Night available, one of only 8-10 known to exist.
