A previously unreleased Michael Jackson CD is about to come to auction.
It will appear in Gotta Have Rock and Roll’s upcoming sale in New York, which closes on July 28.
The otherwise blank CD bearing the title “Bible” in pen features 12 songs, most of which Jackson wrote and recorded in 2009, the year he died.
The CD is consigned from a former PA of Michael Jackson
Only three of the tracks have been released previously, on Jackson’s posthumous 2010 album Michael.
All are said to be fully mastered.
It’s unclear whether Jackson intended to release this record as a standalone album.
The CD is valued at anything from $50,000-1m, but it’s worth noting that it’s not being sold with the copyright.
That’s a factor that will definitely affect the final result, as the winning bidder will be unable to make any money from its release.
The lot is consigned from the collection of an anonymous friend and personal assistant to the star.
The sale will feature a wealth of Jackson’s other personal effects.
Demand for Michael Jackson memorabilia has grown in the years following his death.
In 2012, a huge auction of pieces from across his glittering career sold for a combined total of $5m. It included a jacket from his legendary Bad tour that made $240,000.
