A 1917 Italian post offices in China cover starred in Spink's November 10 Collector's Series sale with a final bid of $65,230.

It displays a Peking 1917 40c on 1l. brown and green hand surcharge and a 5c second issue with "Pechino"(Peking) overprint.
The Italian government operated two post offices in China between 1917 and 1922. They were mainly used by Italian expats away on business.
The auction house describes the lot as "the only cover recorded bearing this extremely rare value…
"One of the greatest gems of the Italian P.O.'s in China."
