A $110,000-estimated rare 30c 1869 pictorial invert stamp will lead among three inverts from the Dr Irvin Heimberger collection at Robert A Siegel Auction Galleries on October 10 in New York.
The stamp is one of the finest examples of a US invert on the market, and stands as one of only three recorded examples in sound condition.

The ultramarine and carmine stamp is beautifully centred with a neat strike of a circle of vs cancel.
There are limited corner creases around the top - making this the cleanest of the three specimens in this portion of the Heimberger collection and justifying its $110,000 estimate.
A hugely rare 1869 15c Pictorial invert, valued at $1.2m, will auction at Siegel on October 9.
A 24c invert with green and violet colouring will also feature on October 10. It is complemented by a blue 6-bar open grid cancel.
Valued at $37,800, it features only small corner creases at the top right. This is a fine example and one of only two recorded cancelled in blue.
The final invert in the collection is a 15c in brown and blue that is estimated to make $22,500. It features rich colours and a neat strike of a small star fancy cancel. Only 97 such examples are recorded and two are in institutions.
