Cherrystone Auctions is offering another substantial auction of rare stamps and postal history consisting of 1833 lots from around the world - with collections from various owners and estates sold by their order.
A particular strength is the number of high quality 19th and 20th Century United States including Proofs, Essays and Possessions. The first 250 lots are devoted to America.
European Countries include classics from Austria, France and French Colonies, Germany and German States, German Colonies and Occupations, Italy including Italian States and Colonies and Switzerland with unused Cantonals (Basel Dove, Double Geneva, Zurich 4 and Waadt 4).
There is even an award-winning collection of Zeppelin Mails, most notably Iceland, formed by the late David Hill.
The British Commonwealth is also well-represented with excellent offerings from Great Britain, Australia, Bahamas and New Zealand. There is a strong selection of Israeli stamps including perforate and imperforate plate blocks, tab blocks, full sheets of J1-5 and others.
However, the most exciting piece is from the Soviet Union, nestled in amongst a number of important pieces of Russian postal history and exceptional, never before offered rarities from Siberia and Far Eastern Republic.

The section is highlighted by a Russian Consular Air Post 1200m/50k overprint Type V stamp, which may even top the unique strip of five 1857 10k brown & blue stamps which Cherrystone sold from the Alexander collection last month for $230,000, as it is estimated to realize $300,000-$400,000.
Only two sheets (50 stamps) of the 50 kopeck value are known to have been surcharged. Type V occurs only once per sheet and only two are recorded (the other example resides in a well-known prominent collection).
Cherrystone's November 9-11 sale will take place in New York, though online bidding is already available if you can't wait.
