This coming weekend sees 1,512 stamp lots going under the hammer in a sale at Raritan Stamps, Inc, which represents the property of 31 collectors. In total the auction is expected to fetch around $550,000.
There is an impressive variety of material on offer including an Asian section with PRC stamps and a very extensive Russian section with elusive Imperial stationary proofs, stamps and Traveling Post Office cancellations. There are also interesting Soviet Union pieces.
But for the moment we've decided to ignore all that in favour of Daffy Duck.

Lot 43 in the auction is a 1999, Daffy Duck, 33c multicoloured, complete pane of ten self-adhesive stamps. Boasting a serpentine die cut, it includes a vertical pair (position 6-9) imperforated horizontally between the stamps.
Never hinged, very fine and likely to be unique, the pane already carries a bid of $4,500 in the sale which closes May 27-28. It will make someone an excellent investment.
The offering reminds us of Kerby Confer, whose owned an Inverted Jenny stamp block and kept it alongside original Carl Barks artworks for Donald Duck.
