Only three Australians have ever won an F1 Grand Prix. Alan Jones managed it more recently than Jack Brabham, and even his win was back in 1981.
For this reason, Australia Post are creating stamps using three images of Mark Webber: a close up of his helmeted head, one showing him on the grid at the start of his winning race and one of him enjoying the glory atop the winner's podium.
The stamps will cost 55 cents.
Starting from pole for the first time, in his 130th race, Webber was keen to get the 'monkey off his back' which he managed despite a penalty following a collision with Rubens Barrichello.
His only comment as he crossed the line was 'Yipeee!' He was followed by Red Bull teammate Sebastian Vettel, reversing their positions from the previous race.
It's not the first time that stamps referring to Formula 1 have been printed, if anyone wanted to collect based on that theme.
Stamps showing F1 Ferraris have been printed all round the world, and the Royal Mail printed a set of notable British F1 drivers (though not all winners) around the time of Lewis Hamilton winning the championship.
However, unlike Webber's stamps, British stamps will never show the drivers' faces as the Royal Mail is not allowed to show the face of any living person except the monarch on a stamp.
