Spink Shreves is presenting another of their highly popular Collector's Series Sales. These auctions are designed to appeal to a broad range of buyers, whether they are a beginner, intermediate or experienced collector and/or dealer.
Buyers of gem quality US mint or used stamps will find our usual complement of stamps to satisfy their sophisticated collecting tastes. Buyers of foreign stamps and covers will find an unusual and varied selection of lots. Also included are Worldwide Large Lots & Collections.
There are several highly notable collections on offer including The Estate of Allan S. Fox's Specialised 1851-56 One Cent Blue Imperforates.
This is an exceptional offering of 102 lots to begin the sale. It contains many important types, positions, varieties, multiples and covers - often in premium condition. Most of the material has not been on the market for over 25 years.

One key lot is an extraordinary used 1c blue pair being a Type I and Type Ib, horizontal combination. It includes the celebrated Type I, position 7R1E (which shows the most accurate view of the intended design) as the right stamp in the pair, with the left stamp being Type Ib, position 6R1E, the best position displaying the Type Ib.
Of the six confirmed existing pairs, only this pair is completely free of any faults. All other combination pairs have small faults to some degree.
Furthermore, none of the other existing combination pairs or strips possess margins of the overall size and width this spectacular pair possesses.
The pair is expected to achieve $150,000 in Spink Shreves' sale which takes place in New York on March 24-25.
