A complete 1980 Year of the Monkey sheet of 80 is valued at $141,728-167,497.

The Chinese 1980 Year of the Monkey issue has a huge collector base

The lot could trouble the world record for a sheet of the popular issue, set at $192,251 in a Chinese auction in 2011.

While the stamps are not particularly rare, they have proven very popular with Chinese collectors and non-collectors alike - in part because red is seen as lucky and the issue displays the number eight.

The lot will sell at InterAsia Auctions in Hong Kong on June 27.
