But I'll admit, it was a little gruesome and not for everyone.
So here's another great Royal item at the other end of the spectrum.
Royal Christmas cards are amongst the most popular items I sell.
They're a great way to acquire rare and historic signatures without breaking the bank.
And they make fantastic display pieces that suit any collection.
Here's one of the nicest examples I've seen for a while.
It's a card signed by Prince Charles and Princess Diana, and sent from Buckingham Palace in 1983.
It features a superb set Charles and Diana autographs – signed by hand and 100% authentic.
The signatures are clear and bold.
And the photograph of the young family is beautiful.
It captures the couple during a happy time in their turbulent relationship.
Two years after their "Wedding of the Century" was watched by 750 million people around the world...
And only 18 months after the birth of their eldest son Prince William.
So that's one of the most iconic women of the 20th century, and two future kings, in the same portrait.
Not bad for a Christmas card, is it?
I'm always cautious when cards like this arrive on my desk.
Because the simple fact is this:
Almost all Royal Christmas cards sent after 1960 were signed by an autopen machine.
I've closely examined hundreds throughout my career, and in 99% of cases the signatures are mechanical.
Don't get me wrong – these are still real cards sent out by the Royal family.
But they don't have the personal, human touch.
Cards hand-signed by the Royals themselves are much harder to find.
So when I discover a genuine example like this, in such good condition, it's always a great moment.
What makes it even better is that it's undedicated.
Most Charles and Diana hand-signed cards include a name at the top – which is nice for the person who received it, but not quite so desirable for collectors.
And demand for items signed by the couple – and Diana in particular – has never been higher.
The hit Netflix show The Crown has caused a surge in interest when it comes to Royal memorabilia.
Another major Hollywood film about Diana is due for release later this year.
It seems her remarkable life and sudden, tragic death will always fascinate people around the world.
The market for her autograph clearly backs that up.
Figures show the value of Princess Diana's signature has been rising steadily by 11% each year for the past 20 years.
And the demand for Charles' signature is sure to increase as soon as he becomes King.
(Not to mention the early appearance of Prince William – another man destined for the throne).
So not only is this Royal card a wonderful display piece for your collection...
It could also make you a profit in the years ahead.
It's a nice thought, isn't it?
But I should just warn you...
