It then sold at Kerry Taylor Auctions in London in March 2013 where it achieved £48,000 ($80,000), equating to a return of 4.2% pa over 16 years.
The dress worn by Diana when she danced with John Travolta at the White House sold in March last year for $362,500, while Diana's Catherine Walker tuxedo gown made $75,000 in November 2013.
