A piece of William and Kate's wedding cake from 2011 has sold for $7,500 at Julien's Auctions in Beverly Hills, setting a new world record at auction.
|
The huge popularity of the royal couple in the US - bolstered by their ongoing tour of the country - pushed the lot far beyond its initial estimate of $2,000, equating to an increase of 275%.
The previous record for a piece of royal wedding cake was $6,000, set for a slice from the marriage of Charles and Diana.
We have this slice of Charles and Diana's wedding cake available for a bargain price.
The sale also included a number of dresses from Princess Diana's personal collection.
