A Buzz Aldrin insurance cover is offered in an online sale at Astro Auction.

The insurance cover would have provided the astronauts' families with income in the event of their deaths

The lot is expected to make close to $9,000 ahead when the auction closes on July 30.

Due to the extreme danger of the Apollo 11 mission, and the fact no insurer would cover the expedition, a number of covers were produced and signed. They would have been sold in the event of a disaster and the proceeds given to the families.

Fortunately the mission was a success and the covers are now coveted items of memorabilia.

Another example that was actually flown to the Moon sold for $50,788 in 2013.
