This Saturday, January 29th, Estates Unlimited is holding its sixth Curio Auction, and it's collectors of fossils and dinosauria who have the most to look forward to.
A fine example of species Machairodus Giganteus, better known as the sabre-tooth cat from the Miocene Period (23-5 million years ago) is on offer, and is truly spectacular.
With its full open mouth mounted on custom made stand, it has required less than 10% restoration with an excellent set of teeth and complete, original 'sabres'.
Measuring 13.25" by straight line measurement, it is expected to sell for $10,000-$20,000.

The expected top lot however is perhaps unique, being one of the finest, complete, dinosaur egg nests ever offered for sale anywhere in the world.
Not only is this a complete 3 level nest containing a full 30 eggs, but the large egg size (8.5-9") indicates this is the exceptionally rare, large oviraptor Citipati, or possibly a yet undescribed species. The shell coverage of these unhatched eggs is excellent.
A specimen worthy of the finest museum or fossil collection, the likes of this one of a kind piece may never to be seen again. It measures 29" in diameter and carries an estimated price of $30,000-$60,000.

The value of individual dinosaur eggs has varied a fair bit over the past two decades, which might cast doubt on their value as an investment. However, the more unique examples such as this are less likely to experience drops in value.
