Doll collectors have the opportunity to get their hands on some potentially valuable specimens this weekend.
10,000 dolls will be up for grabs at the Cultural Recreation Centre in Vulcan, near Calgary on Saturday, August 6, reports the Calgary Herald newspaper.
Items sure to tempt collectors at the McInenly Auctions-run event include rare Barbies, Cabbage Patch Kids still in their boxes and 700 porcelain dolls.

There will be Chatty Cathys from the early 60s, dollhouses and clothes, and even a Princess Diana puppet.
The collection was assembled by Vulcan-resident Marjorie Schneider, who died aged 84 last year.
Proceeds will go to the Alberta Children's Hospital and the local Vulcan Hospital.
"It only seems right that Mom's dolls would benefit sick kids," daughter Donna Arrison told the newspaper.
"But it will be a little sad to see them all go."
Arrison is unsure how her mother had time to acquire the collection. "I don't know where she got all those dolls, but she was home every night," she said.
The auction house's Frank McInenly commented: "She had probably one of the biggest and best doll collections in western Canada."
Schneider also assembled around 1,000 wagon wheels and a collection of barbers' chairs.
Toy and doll collecting is big business, and if the right collectors are in attendance on Saturday, prices for some of the finest pieces could soar.
A rare 1914 portrait doll, sculpted by French artist Albert Marque, sold for $168,000 at Frasher's auction in Kansas City last month.
