Marilyn Monroe’s original medical files will be among the star lots of the Icons and Idols sale at Julien’s Auctions in LA on November 17.
The folder contains entries from between 1950 and 1962.
It was kept by Marilyn’s plastic surgeon, Michael Gurdin, who carried out some procedures on the star in the early years of her career.
Dr M Gurdin referred Marilyn to the radiologist in 1962
These include a cartilage implant in her chin and a rhinoplasty.
There’s also an x-ray of her nose taken on June 7, 1962, following a fall at her home. This was just two months before she died.
The notes indicate that the fall happened in the early hours of the morning.
At the time Marilyn was working on what would be her final film, Something’s Got to Give.
On June 8, the day after the x-ray, she was sacked from the production as her erratic and self-destructive behaviour made filming impossible.
On August 5, she would be found dead following an overdose of barbiturates.
The lot is expected to make around $20,000-30,000.
Other examples of Marilyn’s medical records have achieved strong results in the past, with one chest x-ray (taken at an LA hospital in 1954) selling for $45,000 in 2010.
