A rare copy of Nintendo World Championships, produced for the NES in 1990, currently stands at $5,600 on eBay.
The game, originally intended as a competition, features abridged versions of Super Mario, Tetris and Rad Racer. Contestants achieving the most points across all three games in six minutes could win a range of prizes.

Only 116 cartridges were ever produced, of which 26 are gold. These latter examples were distributed as prizes by Nintendo Power Magazine, and are considered among the rarest collectibles in gaming history.
The extreme scarcity of the gold cartridge has inspired frenzied bidding in the past, with one example selling for $15,000 on eBay in 2008. Another was sold privately for $18,000 in 2009.
The label of the grey cartridge in the listing has been removed, and is in generally poor shape, although its extreme rarity makes it desirable in any condition.
Bidding ends on January 25.
