Christie’s just sold a rare Hermes Birkin for a handbag record $379,261.
The lot crossed the block in a sale of handbags in Hong Kong on May 31.

The 2014 white crocodile skin bag (with gold and diamond hardware) is from the company’s flagship range, named for actress Jane Birkin.
The bag was initially designed for the star after Hermes CEO Jean-Louis Dumas met her on a plane.
It smashed the previous $300,000 record, set by a near identical Birkin at Christie’s in 2016.
