An original Star Trek shuttlecraft prop sold with excellent results in a highly anticipated onlineauction on June 28.
With just 90 seconds left in the sale and bids standing at around $20,000, one lucky Star Trek fan looked to have secured a bargain. However, three bidders entered the auction at the last minute, driving the final price to an impressive $70,150. The "Galileo" shuttlecraft appeared in the original Star Trek TV series, starring William Shatner as Captain Kirk, which aired from 1966 to 1969. Measuring 24 feet in length and over nine feet tall, the prop was firstacquired by a collector several years ago.Since then, the consignor had kept the massive shuttlecraft in storage and completed just 40% of the restoration work necessary to return the prop to its original condition. According to the auction house, the new owner plans to complete the restoration and has plans to display the shuttlecraft in a museum. Though Paul Fraser Collectibles may be in hot water with discerning "Trekkies" for mentioning the two in the same article, we are currently offering a fantastic prop from Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope.
