An unusual and some might say controversial, taxidermy zebra head has auctioned in New Zealand for $5,136.
Estimated to achieve $4,695, the rare zebra head and shoulders mount sold with a 9.3% increase on July 4.

Top spot in the Studio Pottery section of Art + Object's Modern Design Auction went to New Zealand potter Len Castle's Inverted Volcano vase, which made $7,343, while Danish furniture designer Kofod Larsen's rosewood sideboard sold for $7,801.
The finest examples of mid-century design are held in increasingly high esteem.
In May 2013, Wright's Scandinavian design auction totalled $1.6m. The stand out lot, a set of six PS Heggen-designed waste paper baskets, sold with a 650% increase, for $37,500.
