A number of signed pieces by Fred Leighton - aka "the stars' jeweller" - will be going under the hammer tomorrow (October 13-14), in a two-day sale run by online auction house Saffronart, taking place in Mumbai.
What's more, the sale will also boast the largest collection of watches to be sold at auction in India. Its timepieces will include a one-of-a-kind Patek Philippe and limited edition Audemars Piguet timepieces.
According to reports, all of Leighton's featured works are inspired by India. The collection includes unique pocket and wristwatches and important gemstones presented in a variety of unique designs, like necklaces and rings.
Pre-sale estimates for the 196 lots range between Rs 14.6 crore (over $3.2m) and Rs 17.6 crore - and the important diamonds, gemstones and signed and period jewels are sure to attract high-profile bidders.

The curious won't need to look far to see impact of Leighton's works. Meryl Streep wore a Fred Leighton art-deco diamond and onyx bracelet at the 82nd Oscar Awards, while Maggie Gyllenhaal wore a Fred Leighton 1940s diamond cuff bracelet at the same occasion.
And Michael Douglas, star of Fatal Attraction and Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, is said to have gifted his wife Catherine Zeta-Jones an antique 10-carat marquise-cut Fred Leighton diamond engagement ring.
One thing's for certain, the 'Autumn Online Auction of Fine Jewels and Watches' should prove unmissable for the world's top jewellery and timepieces collectors.
