To mark the near-closure of this decade, for this week's 'unique item' we'll take a look at something which sold back in 2005.
Easily among the most unusual collectible items of the decade is the pair of Levi Strauss & Co (USA) 501 jeans for which an anonymous Japanese collector paid $60,000 on eBay.

The jeans, it transpires, were the oldest pair of Levis available to buy - over 115 years.
They were sold by Randy Knight from the USA, on June 15, 2005. It is unknown if he had any 115-year-old socks or underpants to go with them.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, the unique sale was reported across the globe. The jeans are now also listed in the Guinness Book of Records, as the oldest pair of Levis ever sold.
