A superb selection of fine jewellery and watches will come under the hammer in Philadelphia early next month, as Freeman's bi-annual auction takes place on December 6th.

The collection comprising 257 lots features excellent pieces from some of the world's finest names such as Patek Philippe, Cartier, Tiffany & Co., and Rolex that span from the classic to the opulent. A total of 257 lots are being offered, an unusual 50% of which come from prominent local Philadelphia estates.

Kate Waterhouse, the fine jewellery specialist is enthusiastic about the auction, "We have such a broad variety of items for every level of buyer; including unique purchasing opportunities such as the estate of Marguerite Yannapolis, former opera singer with the New York Metropolitan Opera, as well as a number of pieces that will be offered to benefit the local William Dietrich Foundation."

This superb platinum and diamond dinner ring has an estimated price of $120,000 - $220,000

Amongst the lots are several standout items including three stunning diamond rings. First is an 11.7 carat platinum and diamond dinner ring, with a Marquise cut diamond in a pave diamond 'legacy' style platinum setting and an estimated price of $120,000 - $220,000.

Second is a lady's platinum and diamond dinner ring with an 8 carat pear shape diamond, framed on either side by baguette cut diamonds with an estimate of $50,000 - $70,000, and third a platinum and diamond engagement ring featuring a 4.9 carat emerald cut diamond in a platinum setting, framed by two trilliant cut diamonds with an estimated price of $35,000 - $45,000.

The auction also features a large number of lower priced items for entry level collectors, and many Tiffany & Co. and Cartier pieces still in their original boxes which should prove perfect for the holiday season ahead.

"We tend to see a number of young men at this sale, considering the fact this is engagement season", says Waterhouse, "again the selection for diamonds ranges from traditional 1.5 carats to larger 8 carat or fancy coloured diamonds, that tend to really help someone make a statement."

From suitors searching for the perfect ring to collectors looking for a great investment, the auction on December 6 should prove an excellent opportunity to pick up something sparkling.
