Sotheby's Important Watch auction, scheduled for May 11, is to star an exceptional, limited edition Patek Philippe wristwatch, as well as footballer Leo Messi's platinum encased Audemars Piguet watch.
The rare Patek Philippe, which was produced in very limited numbers, is valued at $476,500.

Ref 5092 was launched in 1997. 30 pieces were created in total, with 10 each cased in platinum, white, and yellow gold, respectively. The model is one of the 10 platinum examples.
The outstanding watch achieves a chime with signature clarity within a hinged officer's style case. The case was made for Patek Philippe by the celebrated watchmaker Jean-Pierre Hagmann, whose case maker's mark, JP, is stamped on the inside of the case back, the dial and the movement.
Barcelona star Messi's limited edition, platinum encased Audemars Piguet watch is also to feature, with estimates only available upon request.

Profits from the sale of his watch are set to benefit the Leo Messi Foundation.
Argentine Messi comments: "The funds raised in this auction will allow us to rehabilitate the Children Public Hospital in my home city of Rosario."
Patek Phillipe watches remain extremely popular among collectors and investors alike. Earlier this month, a collection of unique Patek Philippe clocks surpassed all expectations when it crossed the block at Sotheby's Hong Kong.
Highlights included The Magpie's Treasure Nest clock, which sold for $2.3m, and The Pearl From the Golden Oyster clock, which brought $1.4m.
We currently have this Longines Olympic Series wristwatch in stock.
